Children and social adjustment
Last week, I were in the shopping centre with my 7 years old sister. We
were walking by one of the toy shops. I know how much she enjoys such places, so I decided to enter. During our "travel"
between aisles I heard a lot of times that she want a toy, because
someone else has the same one. I think it is in some way good example of
social adjustment. People from a young age try to integrate into group
by various behaviours and some kind of "popular" things. I think it's really important for children to have positive
peer relations. In future peers will take over supporting role. However,
People should draw the line between participation in common activities
and doing things in spite of themselves.
We are social creatures and we socialise by emulating other people's behaviour. As you've observed, the tricky task is to find a borderline between your social and personal identity.
